Dear Online Pastor,

Sometimes i feel like i don’t know how to pray. like im leaving a message on
God’s answering machine…. do we say the same thing everytime? Sometimes i just don’t understand and then that’s what i end up praying for.

Dear help with praying,

Prayer is really a gift that gives us the opportunity to communicate with the Creator of the universe. I like to think of prayer as just having a conversation with God. I talk with Him throughout the day just like I would to the people I am in relationship with. I don’t usually talk out loud to Him, because it makes people look at you funny. I do talk out loud to Him when I am alone or driving in my car. Just say what is on your heart and mind to Him. You will often be surprised at how He answers. I don’t hear His voice, but I feel as though He often impresses on my Spirit what He is saying. He also speaks to me through other people, through songs on the radio, through TV programs, etc. It is still amazing to me that God wants to spend time with me. That is what prayer is all about, He wants to spend time with you.
